Members have the opportunity to become more involved in sections’ special interest areas:

• administrative: individuals whose area of interest is directing, planning, developing, and administering parks and recreational services
• aquatics: individuals directing, programming, or operating aquatic facilitie
• community facility: individuals involved with the development, operation, and management of community/recreation centers and facilities
• community recreation services: individuals who address community-based issues in non-traditional, culturally diverse and economically challenged populations in urban, suburban and rural communities
• enforcement: individuals who are park rangers or work in enforcement
• parks and natural resources: individuals whose area of interest is planning for and managing parks, natural resource recreational areas, and recreational facilitie
• programming: individuals who supervise and develop recreational programs and activities
• therapeutic recreation: recreation professionals who serve people with disabilities and/or diverse populations by offering leisure education and recreation participation opportunities
