Job Description:

This position is responsible for the maintenance and general condition of the Williston Fitness Center to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Provide overall facility supervision, facility maintenance and cleaning duties.  
Schedule and train new part-time staff hired as Service Desk Attendants and part time building supervisors. 
Open and close the Williston Fitness Center as needed. 
Maintain a clean and pleasant environment at the Williston Fitness Center. 
 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist maintenance technician with major projects.
Assume maintenance duties in the absence of the Maintenance Technician
Assist front desk, child care, maintenance, and management staff during busy and/or crisis situations.
Communicate problems and concerns relating to building maintenance to the Maintenance Technician.
Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow and ice removal from walkways that surround building.
Assist in hiring, training and evaluating staff.
Provide onboarding training for part-time employees who work the Service Desk, and those employed as building supervisors.
Provide work direction to part-time evening and weekend staff to ensure staff is executing a high level of customer service that consistently meets the standards of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Provide quality customer service by welcoming, engaging and assisting customers and visitors, responding to complaints and concerns in a calm, professional and respectful manner.
Responsible for the supervision of all Williston Fitness Center activities including, but not limited to swimming, tennis, general fitness, and batting cages.
Comply with and enforce all safety rules, regulations and practices as required to protect the employee, co-workers and facility users.

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience
  1. Experience working in Recreation, Sports Management, or sports or fitness related facilities
  2. Two years of experience with effective customer service processes and procedures
  3. CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  4. Must be available to primarily work evenings and weekends, with varied hours and shifts
  5. High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  6. Must be comfortable using Microsoft office or related software
  7. Licenses/Certificate: CPO Certified Pool Operator Certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire (for swimming pool & spa)
Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job)
One year or more of facility operations experience.
 Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Sports Management or related field.
 Proficient in RecTrac 3.1 software.
 

Additional Information:

**This position is scheduled to work evening and weekend hours. 
   Selected candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule.

Knowledge of overall operations of a recreational or public facility.

  1. Supervision of part-time employees
  2. Providing exceptional customer service both in-person and on the telephone 
  3. Computer operations including word processing, spreadsheets, registration/membership software
 Ability to:
  1. Work a flexible schedule, which includes evenings and weekends
  2. Communicate ideas, recommendations, instructions, and explanations clearly, both orally and in writing
  3. Effectively handle difficult customer service situations
  4. Operate equipment commonly encountered in facility maintenance operations
